Alive

Matrix

This is just to say I am alive. I was sick for a bit then went to the states for Oculus Connect which is awesome and then got overwhelmed by work on my return. Will post some thoughts on the stuff at Oculus Connect and working with a 14 camera Hero360 Rig soon.

At Last!

MatrixWas able to get the tracker working with a fix to the drivers. So we have a mostly fully operational battle station. Still have a few pieces of software to install but was able to test out the leap motion and the Oculus. Mostly novelty stuff I have seen so far. Really hoping to find some more innovative works or just work on them ourselves. Today I will be exploring more of the Share store and seeing what else is out there. It is one thing to read about these experiences but totally different to actually experience them.

Screaming at the Gods

HulkI don’t know which gods I need to leave tribute around here in order to get my supplies. Somehow I still wait for computer, monitor and slew of other items in order to R&D and develop. I believe the gods are laughing at me and all I feel like is the Hulk screaming in frustration. The amount of process I deal with is enough to drive me insane. All I want to do is develop and design. HULK SMASH!!!

Presenting VR

Presentation

It has been reported on before but I have to say trying to present VR to an audience is difficult. On stage you either show them a video of what the user is seeing with no split which is really just a video like normal or you show a split screen which is really just two videos like normal side by side. I don’t really think unless you truly know about VR you won’t understand what you are watching there and why it is cool. The cool is really being in the head mounted display and that is limited to the viewer at the moment. Getting the cool ooooohs and aaaaaahs only comes with using the actual device. Installations and demonstrations will be the only real way to get across the experience. It is a very unique challenge for Virtual Reality. One that I hope there is a better answer for in the future.
